Zimbabwe Institute of Geomatics to Host 2022 Conference in October

Posted on September 24, 2022September 24, 2022 by KUMBIRAI MATINGO

The Zimbabwe Institute of Geomatics (ZIG) will this year host a conference together with their annual general meeting.

Date: 20 – 21 October 2022

About ZIG

Zimbabwe Institute of Geomatics (ZIG) is a professional body that seeks to lobby and address all the gaps currently being experienced in the Geomatics industry in Zimbabwe. It serves the interest of the young and old, the experienced and the inexperienced, the vulnerable and the powerful. ZIG does this through addressing the need for change in the roles involved in shaping this profession using the energy expected from the young Geomaticians coupled with the knowledge and experience from our respected seniors of this wonderful profession.

ZIG was formed in response to the need for change in ways of handling Geomatics matters, the use of the “Surveying” term in this modern world is slowly being phased out as the new order gives birth to the use of a term “Geomatics” which clearly encompasses all the disciplines.

About the ZIG Conference and Annual General Meeting 2022

The Zimbabwe Institute of Geomatics Conference 2022 and Annual General Meeting is a one day event that will pave the way to the annual general meeting for the association.

Running under the theme: Geomatics in Sustainable Waste, Water and Transport Infrastructure Management, the conference will attract various stakeholders across industries in Zimbabwe and the rest of the globe. The conference will take place on the 20th of October while the Annual General Meeting (AGM) takes place on the following day, the 21st of October, 2022.

After the success of the Smart Cities Conference that was held in 2019 before the Coronavirus pandemic, this year’s conference will be the first in-person gathering of the Geomatics sector stakeholders, academia, young professionals and students post-covid.
