The Regional Centre for Mapping of Resources for Development (RCMRD) is honored to invite the general public to the 5th RCMRD International Conference (RIC 2022), taking place physically at RCMRD, Nairobi, Kenya from 6th – 8th September 2022. The conference theme is “Earth Observation Services for Resilient Social Systems.”
The RIC 2022 will provide an excellent platform for policymakers, executives, experts, researchers, developers, and innovators to share experiences, ideas, methods, and technological advancements and engage with key players in the Earth observation (EO) and Geographic Information System (GIS) arena from all over the globe.
The conference will explore how Earth observation data and services can improve resilience in social systems by addressing challenges around people, their planet and associated policies that drive social systems.

The discussions will focus on the key development sectors (Thematic Areas) of:
- Agriculture & food distribution systems;
- Early warning & disaster preparedness;
- Water resources & blue economy;
- Land administration & management systems;
- Natural ecosystems & biodiversity conservation;
- Geo-innovations in health; and
- Smart & green cities.
At RIC2022, RCMRD will provide participants with an excellent opportunity to present their research and innovations, share experiences, ideas, methods, and technological advancements in using Earth observation data services for resilient social systems. The participants will also engage with key players in this industry from all over the globe. The Centre thus invites individuals, institutions and the private sector to participate and contribute solutions to societal challenges through EO data and geospatial technologies that influence social systems through broad sessions defined as pro-people space policies, people and planet earth, and planning for a resilient people.
