Introducing ArcGIS Excalibur

Posted on October 29, 2022October 29, 2022 by KUMBIRAI MATINGO

Esri never stops building new and more fascinating and sophisticated software. It’s like almost each and every month there is either a new software release or a major upgrade towards one of their products and services.

This article will give a focus on the ArcGIS Excalibur.

ArcGIS Excalibur is a web-based imagery exploitation app that allows users to search, analyze, and share images with Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standard Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS). Annotate and add measurements or geoenriched observation layers to images and map images in focused workflows for image analytics.

Imagery and geospatial workflows that have traditionally been separate are now seamlessly integrated and easily accessible to analysts. Using imagery as a key data source, users can share results as reports or dynamic layers with stakeholders to influence decision-making.

I guess this would come in hand together with their Drone2Map solution.

Here are some of the integrated workflows that can help you strengthen operations that we managed to get from their website.

Search and discover

Access imagery in seconds from web-enabled image services, then open it from the search results. Save and quickly get back to search queries. Filter searches by date, cloud cover, and name, or input a service URL for faster access.

Work remotely

You can access imagery over the web from anywhere with Open Geospatial Consortium standard Web Map Service (WMS) and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS). Increase collaboration in the field with remote inspection, analysis, and discovery workflows.

Organize projects

Perform image exploitation more efficiently using imagery projects. Imagery projects organize the images, tools, and instructions needed to complete an exploitation task. Add observation layers to a project and include a web map with geospatial reference layers to help provide context.

Exploit and analyze

Prepare reports with annotated images and extracted information from image observations. Save time by adding geoenriched observation layers or detect change with automated pixel-based comparison. Make multiple edits simultaneously and improve productivity.

Export and share

Add value to briefings with exported images. Then, share them with key stakeholders to help make informed decisions based on data and insights from images. Bring other ArcGIS apps and solutions into play to create image observation reports, dashboards, interactive briefing materials, and dynamic analysis layers.

Wow! Isn’t that just fascinating?

Here is a simple outline of the workflow.

Access imagery

Search for imagery through quick access to Web Map Service or WMTS. Set search settings, preview, view metadata, and save search queries.

Perform imagery exploitation

Create markups and apply geoenriched enhancements. Use the swipe tool to compare two image layers or the detect change tool to track object changes.

Share results

Create imagery observation reports and interactive briefing products, monitor product metrics, or share your analysis as dynamic imagery layers.

We could go on and on writing about this but hey, this is not our product. You can check out more on this product over their official website by clicking here.

Enjoy!
