How to Set Up and Configure a GeoServer from Scratch

GeoServer is an open-source server software that allows you to publish, edit, and manage geospatial data on the web. In this tutorial, we’ll walk you through the process of downloading and configuring GeoServer from scratch, so you can have your own geospatial data server up and running in no time.

  1. Download GeoServer The first step in setting up GeoServer is to download the software. You can do this by visiting the GeoServer website (https://geoserver.org/). Click on the “Download” link at the top of the page, then select the latest stable version of GeoServer. Choose the store that you want to use for your layer, then provide the necessary information about your layer.

  1. Publish Your Data Now that you’ve configured GeoServer, you’re ready to publish your data. To do this, simply click on the “Publish” button next to your layer. You can then view your data by clicking on the “Preview” link in the left-hand menu.
