What inspired you to pursue your career?

I wanted to make a difference in my community by contributing to the uplifting of the marginalized.

I wanted to motivate the girl child that the sky is not the limit. For women the future lies in building up mentors that can have an impact on girls interested in space technology henceforth growth in numbers of women involved in space technology .

When one gender makes the majority of decisions about what information makes it into a map, unconscious yet likely unintentional biases can result.

Looking at this gave me the confidence that what a man can do a woman can do better and by working together we can achieve great things in life.

What have been some of your biggest accomplishments in your career?

  • Being attached at one of the biggest companies in Zimbabwe(Anglo-American Unki Mines Pvt Ltd) made me to meet many great people in the field of conservation and Geospatial technology , great people from Nature Metrics and Fauna and Flora International to mention a few .
  • I was privileged to be part of the biodiversity project using environmental DNA which is the first project to be done in Zimbabwe by Anglo-American Unki Mines Pvt using environmental DNA.
  • I also got the opportunity to be part of the programs team for Our Giant Leap Hackathon 2023,to be held in Canada in October, a Space Generation Advisory Council Project Group on Diversity and Gender Equality under the theme ” How space technology can support and be utilized by women in remote communities ”.
  • In the future I hope to be counted as one of the top women in the Geospatial field, motivating and inspiring young people to be involved in conserving the environment.

What challenges have you faced in your career and how have you overcome them?

I haven’t faced any challenges as yet.

What advice do you have for other women who are aspiring to pursue a career similar to yours?

The path you are aspiring to pursue is difficult but that is one of many reasons why you would be so proud of yourself when you make it in the field.

Do not underestimate yourself and be confident to pursue what you love.

Set your targets, learn a lot and grab every opportunity you can to improve yourself. The sky is never the limit!!!

What a man can do a woman can do better.
