What inspired you to pursue your career?
I loved geography, and now being exposed to the technology it was easy for me to pursue the career.
What have been some of your biggest accomplishments in your career?
In my current post, I managed to participate in the Zimbabwe mapping exercise for the 2022 population and housing census.
As an intern, we have been recognized at ZIRUP’s Planners Forum for the use of GIS for urban planning purposes.
I am a consultant and am now on GIS for climate change.
What challenges have you faced in your career and how have you overcome them?
Implementation of new technologies or new methods that are different from the traditional methods that were used is one of the challenges.
This I have overcome by doing the thing and showing the output, once the end product is accepted, so is the methodology. To upgrade your skills, you have to do it for yourself; free online courses are my way to go.
What advice do you have for other women who are aspiring to pursue a career similar to yours?
As a woman, never stop learning.
This industry needs you to constantly upgrade yourself and stay updated with the new technologies.
Let us be flexible and ready to accept change.
