What inspired you to pursue your career?

My decision to pursue a career in surveying and geoinformatics was inspired by a deep-seated passion for understanding the intricacies of our world, coupled with a fascination for technology and mapping. As a woman in this field, I was motivated by a desire to challenge gender norms and demonstrate my capabilities in a traditionally male-dominated industry.

What have been some of your biggest accomplishments in your career?

Becoming the West Africa Coordinator for African Women in GIS and mentoring young women and motivate them to achieve more.

What challenges have you faced in your career and how have you overcome them?

As a woman, I faced obstacles such as gender bias, unequal opportunities, or a lack of representation. However, I overcame them by seeking support from mentors, advocating for inclusivity, and continuing to excel in my work to help break down barriers and create a more equitable environment for all professionals in the field.

What advice do you have for other women who are aspiring to pursue a career similar to yours?

  • Don’t be scared
  • Never give up
  • Keep doing what you are doing, grow at your own pace don’t rush the process.
